Is this the real Instagram?
It is your real account. Each service opens as its own mobile website inside Toggle, signed in with your own login, restyled to look and feel like an app. Toggle has no account system and never sees your passwords.
What keeps working?
Direct messages on every app, posting, profiles, search, Stories (unless you hide them) and notifications. Comments open in a native sheet on Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn and YouTube. YouTube videos play in their own player with a mini player.
Can I see Reels for a moment?
The switches for Reels, Shorts, For You and the recommendation feeds are on from the first load. From the options sheet you can show one for five minutes at a time, and it turns itself back off.
Does Toggle block the real apps?
Only if you ask it to. Pick the original apps in Settings and Toggle blocks them with Apple's Screen Time: each one shows a shield with “Open in Toggle” instead of opening. “Unblock for 5 minutes” lifts the shields briefly; turning blocking off asks first. It is self-control, not parental control: the person who set it up can turn it off. Apple gives Toggle only opaque tokens for the apps you pick, so Toggle can't see which apps they are or how you use them.
How do notifications work?
Per app: all notifications, messages only (direct messages, replies, comments and mentions), or off. They come through each site's own web push, relayed to Apple's push service still encrypted, so the relay can't read them. If a real app is installed and not blocked, Toggle holds back that app's notifications so you never get two.
What data leaves the phone?
No account: you sign in to each service directly, and those logins stay on your iPhone. Toggle never sells data and uses no advertising identifier. What leaves the phone: anonymous usage analytics (off in Settings, Share usage data), Meta's app events SDK for ad measurement, and the notification relay if notifications are on. The details are in the privacy policy.
What do the Chrome and Safari extensions do?
The same switches, site by site, free. Two switches cover every site at once: hide like counts everywhere, and hide every endless feed. The Toggle switch at the top of the popup brings everything back for 20 minutes, then turns itself back on.
What does it cost?
The iPhone app has a free 7-day trial, then $6.99 a week or $99 a year in the US (local prices vary), handled by Apple. The Chrome and Safari extensions are free.
Is there an Android version?
No. Toggle is for iPhone (iOS 17 or later). On a computer, the free Chrome extension gives you the same switches on each site.
Is Toggle the same as Toggl?
No. Toggl is a time tracker. Toggle (toggle.social) is the social media app on this page. The two side by side.
Free 7-day trial. iPhone, iOS 17 or later.
